Install Controller

BNR must be installed in the correct sequence in order for it to function as expected. The BNR Controller MUST be installed and configured BEFORE any BNR Clients are installed.

The configuration process will require access to the LightWave Programs and plugin directories.

The
BNR Controller needs to be installed on a machine which has Lightwave installed on it. Run the controller setup exe on your designated machine. Follow the installation prompts, and then launch ButterflyNetRender. BNR will now need to be configured. Use the wizard.

First BNR will prompt for which Platform you will be setting up
(If you are going to use the OSX or LINUX clients – make sure you select them here)

If you selected LightWave, then BNR will prompt if you want to use the Automatic LW Plugin/Configure setup:

If you Select Skip, BNR will go right to the LightWave Paths Dialog box, otherwise it will prompt for the 'Root' Directories' of the Local version of LightWave and the Network Path.

Now set up the paths to the Lightwave folder and network/shared content location.

Modify Plug Paths... BNR will copy and rewrite the config files as well as copying the plugins that will be used for the render farm (this may take some time). This option locks the render farm to its own copies of the selection of plugins in the lwext.cfg at the time of configuration. In order to add new plugins run this.

Make sure you set the file paths in the Screamernet set up panel to be full network addresses.

This will prevent any issues regarding mapped network drives not connecting properly or being available at log on etc.

NOTE: After This Screen - If you have Selected the Linux and/or OSX clients - BNR will prompt for the Lightwave CFG files for these system. Use the cfg files you copied from the Lightwave Installs on these systems.

Next set up the shared directories, again make sure these are specified as full network address.

E-mail set up. Ensure you use the SMTP address that your e-mail system uses. Use the test feature to confirm that it works.

If your SMTP Server requires a Login - use the 'Enable ESMTP' option.

Enable Status Reports - The report lists basic node and scene information.

After you Install - You will see the Registration Message

Please Find the unique "Application ID" in the "Help->Enter Registration Code" menu.
Press the "Email ID" if you have email setup - OR - select the Application ID number with the Mouse and (right Click) copy the number and then Paste this into a Email.
